Flickr to Picasaweb

Finally I decided to migrate all 2600+ my photos from Flickr to Picasa, as much as I love my Flickr which I joined since 2005 (and even more after I upgraded to Pro 2 years ago) I have this thinking that I may have something more crucial to spend USD25 for than to renew its subscription next time.. seeing that I dont practically use it much apart of storing thousands of my postcards pictures… so I guess a free Picasaweb will just do for hosting my photos which most of them are the postcards scans… and only a small proportion are normal photos. And poor Ilyani has to go cheap now.

Have to admit I dont really like Picasaweb interface, its gallery, the album views etc.. they’re ugly :( I love Flickr and it’s pretty. But one great thing I found Picasaweb better than Flickr is how fast the image loads. And you can dowload the image right away on the image page. Unlike Flickr, now I realize I can no longer “save as” the picture  on its page, rather have to go deeper to All Size > Download Original Size. I mean, it wastes one click already.

Oh kay, and Picasaweb is free for now (up to 1Gb only, but thats helluva space already if I only want it to host image to embed on the blogs and stuff). And Flickr Pro will only be worth your RM80+ per year if you use it on common basis, or do high resolution professional photography.

I still have half a year to go with my Flickr Pro (which I now a little tiny bit regret for renewing its subscription last time knowing that I no longer upload postcards to it already.. sigh.. wasted) but until then, whoever wish to see my Postcrossing collection.. (especially to Nay ;-) eh… did you receive any postcard yet??) here is the collection I have been so proud of :P

Postcards to Nibong Tebal

I’m dedicating this post to Nay, a cheerful blogger whom I came across during blogwalking lately who happens to be a Postcrosser :) I mean, it’s such a pure luck to meet a Postcrosser outside Postcrossing site itself, no? (that counts Postcrossing Forum and postcards-related blogs and Facebook as well – where I already have loads of Postcrossers in friend list – and there could be more Postcrossers who are friends of friends therefore meeting Postcrossers on FB is no longer a coincidence) so YAY, I was happy as I found at least one among those bunch of bloggers from Nuffnang community visiting me lately who shares the same passion as I do! :D

And yesterday I received 2 official cards again – addressed to my hostel. As I said earlier I have put my Postcrossing career in rest  ever since I came to study in USM (I used to be a certified full-time Postcrosser, mind you – though a full-time career as a Postcrosser was more like spending more money while earning nothing :P), but as I got some cards in my hands the other month it was hard enough to resist myself from requesting address on Postcrossing. Hence the guilty pleasure, again, and I now started sending postcards after one semester of being totally inactive. And also, the swaps from people who PM me after being featured as Postcrossing Spotlight. And these are what I received within past few weeks:

From China, Brazil, Lithuania, Germany, Spain, Netherlands, USA, Finland, India, Romania, Serbia,  Slovenia.

If only I had a scanner here in my hostel room, you’ll not be surprised at all if you see me start scanning postcards and uploading to Flickr and updating the postcards blog again :P Well my roommate has a scanner, but it’s pointless to borrow for such purpose, I mean, okay, maybe I’m still not that desperate to update my Postcrossing collection just yet. (p.s. I used to be more than desperate actually – was spending hours in UIA computer lab many years ago only to scan my postcards when my scanner got broken =_= now give me a surprised look, I dont mind.) Well yeah, perhaps I’m still keeping my words that I said when I was about to give it a rest for a while as I knew I’d be having so much to do once I continue studying, even though I am not entirely too busy, but still, I know if I start doing it, then I’ll be devoting all my time and soul and money to it :)

To anyone else, apart from Nay, who pass by here and you’re a Postcrosser, please say hello to me! And my question now, are you as crazy as me (and many others, actually) who would keep a blog entirely about postcards you receive?

Malaysian Postcrossing 2nd Meeting?

Haih. Why must everything suddenly need me these days? I am not usually a busy person, but these days I have been a busy bee, including do things for other people. Had to deal with Sunway Travel agency as I booked a trip to Egypt on behalf of my grandma and aunty and her husband and it took me many online checkings and calls and emails back and forth for a few days, and I should deserve a free trip also for my work! Haih. But Mama just says it’s my help to her to help her mother. And also I had to send my old PC monitor to service as I was planning to donate my PC to our neighbor who doesnt yet have PC set at home, or probably sell very cheap, but with all the fuss with the monitor I suggested them to buy a new PC set, and since we saw in Tesco they were having garage sale of used office PC sets which are still new and affordable, and we decided to go for them. And today I brought back the PC set home, and I need to teach the kids to use their new computer now. Hmm..

OK not that I’m complaining.. but it’s funny coz I was doing nothing for past few weeks at home but only now I had so many things to do.. the business website included, even though I don’t pay much attention for now if I can really sell, but I just need to get the website done and I’ll be happy. I think I’ve figured out the PayPal thing (thanks to Ana ;)) just I need to test them, doing transaction with someone.. Az, I hope you can spend some time with me for it :P I’ll look about it later. After the website is done, I’m done.. yeah.. who cares about selling anymore..

And and and today I got invitation to attend Postcrossers meeting in KL.. supposedly to be held this 20th December (Sunday!). Aaaaaaaakk. Though many months ago I kind of expected this meeting and probably wanted to come and join.. as it’s been AGES since our first official meeting in early 2007.. when we had our faces and postcards appear on a magazine for the first time :D hehe. What a crazy fun memory as an obsessed Postcrosser at that time. Though I am slowing down now, I still would be up for a meeting and catch up with friends especially Newrule and Aliah.. OK since I think I haven’t revealed this magazine scans in this blog yet, here you go. Click on images for larger view.

So who knows, probably in this coming meeting we’ll manage to get into magazine again! :P Hmm I don’t know why but lately the Malaysian community isn’t really fun as we used to be years ago (or maybe it’s only me..?) but thing is nobody new really comes participate and chat and go crazy like us. And many of us before have practically disappeared, Aliah and me included. So it’s been sappy, you know.. and since I’m now cured from this postcards addiction I really don’t have good excuse to make it for the meeting. Plus K.Nurul isn’t going! So what’s the point of meeting anymore?

And nowadays I’m too occupied to go KL loh!! :-(

Sigh. Too bad.

Anyways. Here’s an announcement by imajica:

If you’re a Postcrosser and lives near KL or can make it to KL this Sunday, please please please attend our gathering as planned by Cikgu Dale. Plase check this thread on forum. Thank you.
